The Green Belt: Biosecurity Of Self
When the diasporic body is conditioned by spaces unfamiliar to its own habitus, identity becomes something that is managed rather than simply expressed, especially so within the countryside spaces depicted. This project subtly examines how villages with rigid social structures regulate diasporic identity. To integrate into these spaces, a diasporic individual must meticulously balance conformity and resistance. Still-life figures within the landscapes, such as infrastructural devices and spatial anchors, operate as figures of authority, quietly informing how the body is positioned, restrained, and observed.
